For My Father

Words were absent as I walked away, everything was in suspension.

Said my farewell as I kissed your icy cheek, I continued to shiver.

You kept silent, motionless, without a trace of emotion,

Stern and stoic, still the frightful tyrant haunting me from childhood.

The tranquility of the wind was deafening,

My breath became shallow as the cloud of dismay lingered.

Admit you have known of this immanent transformation,

My rebirth had been impending right after leaving my mother's womb.

Yet, preferred to look the other way and shun my delayed evolution.

Your spitting image of a man, fading fast,

Imagined crystal reflection of your only son, shattered.

For he is no longer, he is but a myth spun from a web of lies

Instead I come forth, an enchanting longhaired maiden,

A goddess naked from the complications of lifelong untruths,

No longer imprisoned, no longer concealed, finally released!

But to you the figure before you is a symbol of your wrecked aspirations.

Please see beyond the surface, I shout with continued whispers.

For your beloved offspring still lives!

I may sing a different tune from what is expected,

My voice speaks only of mermaids' songs and gypsies' hymns.

Still I stand beckoning your reception, anticipating your welcome for my return.

Show me your bravery in the face of my complexity!

Accompany me in my resurrection or at least shut your blind eyes!

Be my refuge in the maddening crowd,

Shield me from the harshness and mocking of crude men,

Aid me as I take strides down the spiked path.

Bear witness to the beginnings of my due history!
