Lady In Waiting

Rousing from deep slumber

I think of her during the first wave of the morn

Then right before the end, at the first greeting of twilight

I picture her beside me resting

With her head firm on my devoted shoulder

This as a last reward in a laborious day

At all times she resembles a majestic vision

Her splendor magnificent beyond brilliance

With the regal bearing of a distinguished queen

She obtains amour and inspires Eros without even trying

At our initial encounter

Relentless and ruthless she came forth

Unapologetic, totally bare except for her motives

With force emanating from within she won me over

Instilled values swiftly turned around at her pleading

I was only too eager to be her lady in waiting

Our pact was sealed with a fiery, passionate kiss

Obliterating intimate reservations

That once ceased me from living

I am gladly at her feet upon a summon

Held in line by her firm command

Responding to requests and orders

Keeping check on her every move

I am lucky to be honored by brushing her soft curls

Blessed with the opportunity

To fill her cup with finely aged wine

I shall do anything, I shall wait on her without fail

Although I seem a mere tenant in her kingdom

I am nowhere near a servant

For she serves both as inspiration and protector

She is my fortress from the storm and turbulence

With her I am insulated from torture of ordinary men

Who have petty understanding of our bond

Two beings firmly joined together

Without the grace of conventional matrimony
